Mosquitos reproduce in water and their larvae will form into adult mosquitos, which are able to transmit diseases (human and non-human). I’m not sure if this is possible, but if there are other techniques that could be easily applied to increase the contrast (other than DIC), such as a stain or lighting filter, it might make an interesting follow up to this lesson.

    We have 20.000 genes, each gene can be on or off. I think the first cell has all the genes on. So the life of a cell is a path throught the set {0,1}^20.000 which is the set of all binary strings of length 20.000 and this path starts with a binary string with 20.000 1's. The taken path is influenced by neighbouring signals.

    @microbehunter I live in the UK I'm looking the a wf eye piece with close eye relief which one can you recommend that I'm having issues with my current one as I can see my eyelashes and eyebrows it's so annoying I'm using a trinocular stereo microscope.thx

    • @Microbehunter
      @Microbehunter День назад

      You need one with a long eye relief. Can not recommend a specific one, but look for those that have eyeglasses printed on them. They are for people who want to use the microscope with eyeglasses on, and they have a larger distance. Check diameter of eyepiece barrel, for stereo microscopes the diameter is about 30mm.

    I know it's dangerous and you are against that, but.... I did grow salmonella from chicken meat! I took a small raw piece and put it in a small container with few ml of water. Let it sit overnight with the lid on and took a sample the next day. It was packed with billions of salmonella moving around! Very small and hard to see even at 400x or 1000x magnification and proper illumination. Then, I put a drop of *benzalkonium chloride solution and I can see dying quite fast. When I was done, I discarded the small container in a bag and put it in the trash can. I dip the slide + cover slide in a 1:1 bleach solution few minutes, rinse it, discarded the cover slide. Finally, I cleaned the slide with soap as regular. Nice activity as long as you use the proper protection/caution. *benzalkonium chloride solution: I squeeze a disinfecting napkin. I could have use regular bleach or alcohol.

    These are Honey Bees, but not all bees can only sting you once, according to the research I have done. Bumble-Bee stingers don't have barbs on them apparently, so Bumble Bees can sting you more than once without dying, they say. I love the big colourful Bumble Bees. I have been sitting in a field in the summertime and seen them crawl over my arm without stinging me. They are not easily agitated like wasps. Hairs on our arms agitate wasps enough for them to sting us. I have never found a dead Bumble Bee to put its stinger under the microscope to see for myself that it has no barbs. I most certainly would not kill one. They deserve to be left alone by humans to survive and multiply.

    This methed is used un ferensics. During WW2 the Japanese were sending unsceniary bonbs to iur west coast usung ballons traveling in the upper wind currents. They took samples of the sand used as balast to weight the balloon bringing ut to the right height. By examining the sand they were able to figure out where the sand was coming from. They were they able to "liqudate" the factory where they were manufactued and assembled. Thus the bombs stopped.
